DoorCountyTODAY.com is an online magazine and home to online edition of the Door County Go Guide™, the Door County Dining Guide™, and Door County TODAY the TV show - all about the people and places of the Door Peninsula; brought to you by Door Guide Publishing. Our aim is to display the "real" Door County in all its natural glory — its county and state parks, its shorelines, bluffs and stone fences, as well as its uniquely interesting people — the restaurateurs, innkeepers, shopkeepers, potters, musicians, writers and painters who are the County's backbone. Join us each edition as we meet the people and visit the well-known, as well as the hidden places, that give Door County its reputation as a welcoming vacation destination.
The May 2013 edition of Door County TODAY features segments about Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant in Sister Bay; the Peg Egan Performing Arts Center's summer concert series in Egg Harbor; Behind the Kitchen Door at Cooper's Corner in Fish Creek; and Don Emmerich, one of the photographers from National Geographic's "A Kingdom So Delicious" published in March of 1969.

BIRDING IN DOOR COUNTY
Winter: December, January and February

Winter is the season of dramatic change. Many of our local birds are south and some of the northern birds also move south, some to Door County – which species and in what numbers is a yearly guess.
For winter birding success, remember water and food. Find open water – Anclam Park in Baileys Harbor, Northport Dock, Sister Bay marina, and Sturgeon Bay canal for over wintering ducks, geese and swans. Search for berry-laden shrubs and trees along village roadways and yards for possible casual visitors – re-visit these sites often and at different times of day.
In the winter of 2010-11, two northern visitors, the Bohemian Waxwings and Pine Grosbeaks, were seen by the 100's in the crab trees along Highway 42 from Fish Creek to Sister Bay. Also, scan roadside shoulders of interior County roads for small flocks (5-30) of Snow Bunting... More
